Sciatica Treatment in Hastings, NE

If you have ever felt pain shooting down your leg, there is a good chance someone has mentioned the word "sciatica."

Many people describe sciatica as a sharp, electric-like pain that starts in the lower back or hip and travels down the leg. Others notice numbness, tingling, burning, or weakness that seems to come and go. Some patients tell me the pain is worse when they are sitting, driving, or standing in one place for too long.

Sciatica can make it difficult to work, exercise, enjoy a round of golf, or even sit through a meal comfortably. The frustrating part is that the pain often is not limited to your back. Sometimes the leg symptoms are worse than the back pain.

When Should You Seek Care?

You may benefit from an evaluation if:

  • Pain is traveling into your hip, buttock, or leg

  • You experience numbness or tingling

  • Sitting or driving makes symptoms worse

  • Your leg feels weak or unstable

  • Symptoms keep returning or are not improving

You do not have to simply "live with it" or wait for it to go away. The sooner we identify the source of the problem, the sooner we can begin working toward lasting relief
